Crossover Evening on Advanced Materials and DAMADEI

Design Society
HC Andersens Boulevard 27

October 31, 2013, from 5 pm to 8.30 pm .

In recent years advanced materials have emerged and are having a major impact on the products around us. Coming from science and technology, advanced materials can outperform traditional materials by for instance being tougher, withstanding higher temperatures, and because they can be tailored into new shapes. When combining these materials with design the door to future products and solutions opens.

However, there are still some barriers obstructing the full development of such potential.

Findings from the DAMADEI project will be presented alternated with interesting talks by material experts

Danish Design Centre organises this evening on advanced materials as a part of the DAMADEI project.

There will be six lectures:

Zoe Laughlin from Institute of Making (UK): Wonderstuff – The Performativity of Matter (a material show)

Morten Madsen from University of Suthern Denmark (DK): Paper-thin solar cells – the next generation energy devices

Erik Haastrup Müller, Futation (DK): The Material Road Show

Johan Pedersen, Delta (DK): Warm it up! – Thermal Energy Harvesting

Jonas Edvard Nielsen, Master Graduate and Product designer (DK): Food and lamps grown from waste

Maria Hørmann, Project leader DAMADEI & Priya Mani, author of DAMADEI report, Danish Design Centre (DK): DAMADEI project
